08.18.24

Parkers' Lighthouse, a premier waterfront dining destination in Long Beach's vibrant Shoreline Village, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the introduction of new throwback menu items each month.

Established in 1984 with a focus on fresh grilled fish, Parkers' Lighthouse has been a Long Beach staple for four decades, offering an unparalleled dining experience with breathtaking views of the Queen Mary and the Long Beach skyline. Known for its fresh seafood, innovative dishes, and exceptional service, the restaurant underwent significant renovations in 1999 and 2010, transforming its atmosphere and expanding the menu to include a variety of culinary offerings beyond seafood. It has remained a beloved spot for both locals and visitors.

The Queensview Steakhouse, located at the top of Parkers’ Lighthouse, offers a “supper club” dining experience with spectacular 360° views Tuesday through Sunday nights. The Queensview Steakhouse features live music and an upscale menu that includes prime steaks, chops, lobster, and freshly grilled fish.

To mark this significant milestone, Parkers' Lighthouse will take guests on a nostalgic culinary journey. Each month through the end of 2024, the restaurant will feature a rotating selection of popular dishes from its storied past. Guests can look forward to enjoying new appetizers, entrées, and desserts that harken back to the restaurant's early days.

August Specials:

Parkers' Lighthouse invites everyone to join in the celebration and savor the flavors that have made the restaurant a cherished Long Beach destination for four decades.

Parkers’ Lighthouse is located at 435 Shoreline Village Drive in Long Beach.

California Art Club’s 113th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition at the Hilbert Museum

08.16.24

The Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University in Orange will feature the California Art Club’s 113th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition now through October 26, 2024, in the Sodaro South Galleries. As one of the world’s oldest and most active professional arts organizations, the California Art Club proudly presents nearly 180 works by 163 artists, showcasing their commitment to traditional techniques in painting, drawing, and sculpture.

Unlike most exhibitions, the Gold Medal Exhibition has no set theme, encouraging artists to push boundaries and create their most significant works. This year’s featured pieces highlight a range of modern issues, from environmental conservation to social commentary, all expressed through classical methods.

Visitors to the Hilbert Museum will not only experience these exceptional contemporary works but also see significant pieces from historic California Art Club artists, housed in the museum’s permanent collection.

Additionally, patrons have the unique opportunity to purchase the displayed artwork, with sold pieces marked by a red dot on the label—a rare chance to acquire world-class art directly from a museum setting.

Hilbert Museum of California Art is at 167 N. Atchison Street in Orange.
